Eve Pennington

OMD Media Group, South Africa
Media Lions Shortlist Jury

Creativity is in my DNA. My Sculptor father Reg Pennington designed the Loerie Bird, which is the icon for the South African Creative Industry Awards by the same name. I chose to study Media as I have always loved ideas, but was fascinated by consumer behaviour and the constant evolution of media channels. I am fascinated in the business of ideas – how it has to harness a collective truth to change behaviour, how it is most powerful when it sits at the heart of culture and how it can ultimately influences profitability. For the past 26 years I have fed my curiosity in the world of media and marketing working as a media strategist, as a client and for myself. I have a deep need to keep learning, and my current role with OMD has afforded me the opportunity to learn Media and Brand Building in Africa with some of the most Iconic Brands in the Diageo. Having attending Cannes once in person, I have always wanted the privilege of being asked to judge, and get given the opportunity to see the inner sanctum of the most creative minds in the world.

Executive Creative Director

Angerson Vieira

Direct Lions Jury

I’m a young black man, born and raised in a small city in Brazil, and since I was a kid I’m crazy about creativity. Especially because I’ve always been surrounded by people using their creativity in different ways. Inspired by them, I decided to use mine in advertising. Working in an agency such as Africa since 2015, and guided by the most incredible mentors of Brazilian advertising market, I’ve been involved in many projects which I can proudly say that had achieved the main awards in Brazil and abroad. In "Invisible Players", a project for ESPN, we showed Brazil the capability that women have in sport. In "Legs To Fly", also for ESPN, we made a disabled child feels like he had the most amazing leg in the world. In "Racism Uncovered" for the Afro Museum, we created an alert: the reality of the black population has not changed for decades. As an Executive Creative Director of one of Latin America’s greatest advertising agencies, I want to inspire more young people who dream of working with advertising, always with eyes wide open for diversity and inclusion. And at the same time, always donating my dedication and experience to the brands I work for. Because I don't believe good results come without those ingredients.
